Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo seemed to criticize Israel on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza in what Bloomberg News declared as a “change” in the tone when he reorganized his campaign for the mayor of New York after losing the primary mayor of June in the assembly of New York State in New York Zohrani.
In the comments subsequent to The New York Times, Cuomo argued that Israel was not solely responsible for the “heartbreaking” situation in Gaza.
Nowsweek contacted Cuomo’s campaign to comment Tuesday evening.

Why it matters
Mamdani, 33, sparked a political earthquake in June by winning the Democrat primary of the New York Democrat Town Hall, overcoming millions of dollars in advertisements and Super Pac which passes the campaign of the political veteran Cuomo.
A self -proclaimed democratic socialist, Mamdani runs a New York mayor race with five two -digit candidates and amasse more than 50% of the vote, whatever his opponent, according to a survey published in late July. Cuomo arrived second, receiving 22%.
The republican Curtis Sliwa collected 13% in the survey, the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, received 7%, the former federal prosecutor Jim Walden collected 1% and “others / I do not know”, 6%.
Cuomo is a fervent supporter of Israel while Mamdani’s criticism of the War of Israel in Gaza distinguished him from many traditional democrats and has brought charges of anti -Semitism, which he fiercely denied.
The question could divide the New Yorkers when they vote for the mayor in November.

Cuomo, in an interview with Bloomberg News, seemed to criticize Israel on conditions in Gaza, where aid agencies warned against increasing famine.
“Do I maintain what the Israeli government does to Gaza? No. Do I have humanitarian aid in Israel? No,” he said.
Israel has denied an intentional campaign to refuse food to the 2 million residents of Gaza.
Bloomberg said Cuomo “changes [his] Tone sur Israel “as he reorganizes his campaign after his main defeat in June.
But in further comments to TimesCuomo seemed to support these previous remarks, saying that all parties had to act to ensure that humanitarian aid passes through, reported the point of sale.
“Everyone should do everything they can to have humanitarian aid delivered,” said Cuomo, adding: “It is tearing as a father to imagine what children are going through.”
Cuomo said to Times That in the previous interview, he expressed the views of some New Yorkers, but not his.
“I broadcast what some people feel. You have people who believe that Israel does not act in an appropriate way. This is their opinion,” he said.

In his later interview with the TimesCuomo said: “It is the responsibility of each entity involved – Israel, Palestine, the United Nations, the Red Cross – to do everything to accelerate food and water.”
