Kuala Lumpur: Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an unconditional ceasefire to end the ongoing border disputes.
The agreement reached a high -level talks in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The talks were attended by the acting Prime Minister of Thailand, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, while the US and Chinese Ambassador were also present on the occasion.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told the media that the two sides have not only agreed to the ceasefire, but have decided to restore direct contacts.
He said that the US President appealed to the heads of both countries to find peaceful solutions.
The Cambodian Prime Minister called the talks “encouraging” and said that the fight would be stopped immediately.
It should be remembered that in the border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia recently, 35 people have been killed and displaced over 3 million.
