Abu Dhabi spot the Global Marine Conservation Leadership on the United Nations Sustainable Development Forum

Abu Dhabi, (Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 23rd July 2025) The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) highlighted the global leadership of Abu Dhabi in Marine Conservation, which was kept in the UN Hecks in New York, 2025 United Nations’ High level political platform (HLPF).

Participating as part of the official delegation of UAE, Dr. Sheikh Salem Al Dhaheri, General Secretary of EAD and Vice Chairing of Global Council on SDG 14, high-level Assans Advanced Sustainable Development Gol (SDG) 14: Life Blue Water. The forum also includes cooperation with the UAE Government Exchange Office and the UAE SDG Secretariat.

Dr. Al Dhaheri opened the UAE exhibition on the stage, contributing to the sea restoration of Abu Dhabi, such as the preparation for the Mangrove Alliance and IUCN World Conservation for Climate, is ready to take Abu Dhabi in October.

In his keynote speaker at SDG14 planery, Dr. Al Dhaheri underlined the achievements of Abu Dhabi’s blue carbon restoration, permanent fisheries and marine biodiversity, not efforts to protect the world’s second major Dagong population and monitor more than 7,900 maritime turtles. He highlighted the increase in permanent exploitation index from 8.9 percent to 97.4 percent in 2018 by the end of 2024, operated by data-LED policy reforms.

Dungar UAE -headed minister Roundteable, “Scaling What Works,” Chairman of the UAE National Committee on SDGS and Cabinet Affairs Deputy Minister Abdulla Nasar Loota launched the 2025 version of the SDGS 2045 report, which is unattached to the future.

In the Rapid-Fire Solutions Showcase, Dr. Al Dhaheri emphasized the importance of local leadership, long-term investment, and cross-service partnership, stating, “What works for the trolley scale, what works us.”

He chaired the SDG 14 minister Roundateable, which was hosted in the United Nations Mission in the UAE Mission. The session brought senior films of United Nations agencies and academics together to locate sustainable marine regime. He presented conclusions from 2022 Jayavun Abhiyan, Fisheries Assessment and genetic research on commercial species.

Dr. Al Dhaheri concluded the role of Abu Dhabi as a global model to reverse the maritime decline, citing the return of rare species such as coral rehabilitation and Whit-speed Group.

She was also engaged in bilateral meetings with food and agricultural organizations and New York City environmental protection, to exploit bio -increment, food system and urban flexibility.

EAD’s participation strengthened the status of Abu Dhabi as a global center for nature-based solutions and stability diplomacy, later ahead of IUCN Congress
