Effects of climate change.
This leading plan – the first – Abu Dhabi climate change strategy of Emirates was made as part of 2023: 2027. The scheme has also been aligned with global climate flexibility for the UAE National Climate Change Plan 2017-2050 and the Fremwork of UAE, established in COP28, which proves time-targeted for adaptation plan in major secretions.
EAD General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Salem Al Dhaheri said, “The launch of Abu Dhabi is moving for decisive tasks, preparing climate realities with unwavering commitment to protect our natural heritage.”
The scheme will increase the flexibility of natural resources, protect biodiversity and try to ensure water and food security.

The environment sector adaptation scheme focuses on three highly weak environmental systems: groundwater, soil and biodiversity. These are important for Abu Dhabi’s human health, long -term water security, agricultural productivity and overall ecosystem health.
Through the strong risk assessment, the plan identifies a wide array of climate-inspired hazards and underlines 142 adaptation actions to implement by 2050, including the implementation of 86 high-progressive projects over the next five years. These action is a series of technical, institute and nature-based soaps.
In the long term, the plan supports Abu Dhabi’s strategic ambition to preserve and increase its natural capital. It contributes to national influences to increase food self -reliance, affects a change towards more durable land and water management systems and increases the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem.
Sheikh Al Maziraui, executive director of integrated environmental policy and planning sector, said, “The plan is designed to be adaptive and forward, the plan integrates the latest data, to develop climate estimates, and the policy alignment remains effective as part of a comprehensive national and rich strategy over time, which has been preserved for our longer, which is our long.”
The devil of the scheme was a collaborative process, led by the EAD and included more than 40 government, semi-government, educational, civil society rights and youth.
The plan is designed to dynamic and forward, with periodic reviews, stakeholders and new scientific conclusions and underlying mechanisms for integration of climate projects. With the UAE National Climate Change 2017-2050, it also complements the national biodiversity strategy and other international commitments.
Abu Dhabi Climate Change Adaptation Scheme-Environment Area is one of the first regional schemes to roll out under a comprehensive Emirate-wide adaptation strategy.
