Abu Dhabi, (Urduupoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – July 23, 2025) Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has annually annually inaugurated the inauguration of a compressed Social Human Housing Project in the city of Barberra in Somaliland.
The project priced at AED27.5 million (about US $ 7.5 million) underlines a long -standing commitment of the UAE to promote sustainable development in Somaliland.
This includes 300 resident units designed in three housing categories, which are to accommodate the needs of the divers. This includes the devil of significant infrastructure, including potable water systems, sewage and storewater drainage networks, internal roads, landed green spaces and essential services providing facilities.
This transformational project is part of the comprehensive efforts of ADFD that aims to increase the quality of life and ensure access to safe and dignified housing. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Tariars 11, which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, flexible and durable “by 2030.
The inauguration ceremony was headed by Mohammad Aj-Abdi, Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, in which Dr. Dr. of UAE Business Office in Somaliland. Abdullah Alnakbi’s participation was with senior officials of both governments.
Mohammad Saif Al Suvedi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, said, “The project is the continuity of ADFD mission to support sustainable development in partner countries. Providing adequate housing is the cornerstone of community stability and economic progress.
We are proud to cooperate with the Somaliland government on this important original, which not only provides for homes for about 1,500 individuals, but also creates new job opportunities that stimulate local economic activity. Together, these efforts will run for long -run, which will make a meaningful contribution to the development and flexibility of the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mohammad Awi-Ali Abdulbi, Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland expressed honestly for his development support for ADFD and UAE. He emphasized that the project represents a strategic move towards improving the living situation in Berbera, offering well -designed, integrated housing that enables families to settle in a safe and designed environment.
He said that the benefits of the project are beyond home, infrastructure incorporates deviliation, access to essential services, and job crakes, which all support local economic development and strengthen the stability of the city’s development.
