A 9 -year -old died after an incident in Boardwalk inside Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, confirmed Hersheyypark CEO.
The incident occurred Thursday evening in the amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, when a 9 -year -old child “was tragically lost at the promenade in Hersheypark,” said John Lawn, CEO of Hersheypark.
“From the moment our team of rescuers recognized that a child was in distress, they carried out an immediate rescue, followed by the continuous and coordinated efforts of our rescuers, our first stakeholders on site and medical staff,” said Lawn.
The child was immediately taken to the Milton S. Hershey medical center where, despite the rescue efforts, the child was declared dead.
“Our hearts break for this child and the child’s family,” said Lawn in a press release on social networks. “We express our deepest condolences for their loss. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not publish any personal detail at the moment. ”
Lawn has not revealed specific details concerning the incident or the circumstances that have led there, but, according to the company’s website, the Boardwalk offers 16 different water attractions, including the longest carpet racing slides, “Whitecap Racer” and houses a wave pool of 378,000 gallons called “Shore”, which returns to a depth of six feet.

“The security of our guests has always been our highest priority,” said Lawn. “In the coming days, we will perform an in -depth internal examination and fully cooperate with the authorities.”
“While we cry alongside our community, we ask for privacy for the family and for the members of our team who are deeply affected by this loss. We will provide updates if necessary, and we will continue to work to support all those involved, ”Lawn continued.
The investigation into the child’s death is currently open and underway.
