For Olesen, the PGA Tour has always been an inspiration. When he was asked to appoint the most emblematic winning moment he has ever seen, he did not hesitate.
“It must be Tiger (Woods) somewhere”, he told the interviewer after his semi-final. “Probably the masters would be the one whose best I remember, but the first (1997) which I remember and the most exciting.”
In 1997, Woods won its first Masters jacket at only 21 years old with an 18 sub-parameter. The legend of golf left the field behind, walking towards a victory of 12 shots and rewritten the story, becoming the youngest champion of the masters and the first player of the Asian or African heritage to wear the green jacket.
Now the 35 -year -old pro continues for a while at the Open 3M.
Thorbjorn Olesen Eyes First Pga Tour Win with an ace
On Saturday, Olesen delivered one of the most electric moments of the weekend with a magnificent hole in one on the 8th hole per-3 to the TPC twin cities.
Asked about this, Olesen explained how there was uncertainty between the use of an iron at seven and six.
“It was a rear pin. I felt like I couldn’t get there with a 7, so we opted for a soft 6 iron,” he told the journalist at his press conference after the Tour. “Obviously, has perfectly taken the slope, a big bonus to see it in. But yes, it’s been a long time since I got it, so it was good, it was good.”
It was the third career hole in the pro in one, but his first on PGA Tour.
“I think it’s probably the best because it’s been so long that I didn’t have one”, he expressed at the same conference. “Both of the DP world tour, and this is my first on the PGA Tour. Yes, I would say that it is the best.”
Olesen became pro in 2008, and although he won eight victories on the DP World Tour, including 2022 British Masters and 2023 Thailand Classic, he never won on American soil.
If the 35 -year -old realizes the last round on Sunday, he will become the first Danish to win on the PGA Tour, and according to the tournament officials, the 10,000th winner different from the history of the PGA Tour.
“It will be exciting,” Olesen said as a city. “I am happy to be in this position for tomorrow. It will take a lot, there are a lot of guys up there. I’m sure there will be a lot of birdies. It will certainly be difficult.”
“This (winning) would mean a lot,” he added more. “Winning is what we are trying to do every week. You know, obviously I have not won here, but yes, it’s a great opportunity and I will do my best. We will see, we will see what will happen.”
