A diabetic woman has become viral to calculate the amount of insulin she should take if she drank a viral milk-shake with 2,600 calories.

Addy Tayler, 26 and Glendale, Arizona, received a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in 2022, and must now carefully monitor what she eats and drinks.

She said Nowsweek: “I see a lot of videos on Tiktok About crazy foods, people eat, “but” I never thought twice “until his diagnosis.

“Now that I have to count the carbohydrates and be aware of nutritional factsI’m so intrigued by this kind of videos, “she said.

Type 1 diabetes is also known as diabetes dependent on insulin, and is a chronic condition where the pancreas does little or no insulin, the hormone which allows sugar to enter cells to produce energy, according to the Mayo clinic.

Complications of type 1 diabetes may include heart disease, nerve lesions, kidney damage, eyes and feet and complications during pregnancy, but the condition can be treated by managing the amount of blood sugar using insulin, diet and lifestyle.

Recently, Tayler came across the “extreme” nutritional facts of a drink offered by Baskin-Robbins in 2009: a Milk-Shake with Oreo chocolate, where a portion of 32 fluid ounces contains 2,600 calories, 59 grams of saturated fats, 185 mg of cholesterol and 333 grams of carbone. The drink became viral at the time due to its nutritional information and has since been interrupted.

And, imagining what would happen if she drank it on May 3, she shared a video to her Instagram account @ adddytayler_t1d, where she regularly shares her life with the condition. Nowsweek contacted Baskin-Robbins to comment on this story.

In the videoTayler shows the viral drink alongside a list of his nutritional facts.

“This shock has 333 grams of carbohydrates,” she said, and calculated that if it drank it, it should take a “minimum” of 33 insulin units.

The fat -material content – 135 grams – would cause a delayed blood sugar peak so high that it could not even “imagine” and predicted that its blood sugar would be raised for a week.

She then calculated how much it would cost her, as type one diabetics, to consume the drink.

Her insulin brand is $ 312.50 without insurance, or around 32 cents per unit. Having this drink would force him to take 50 insulin units, which means that drinking the Shake would cost him $ 15,625 – at the top of the cost of buying the drink itself.

Instagram users were shocked, granting video more than 82,000 likes, a commentator writing: “My blood sugar would be raised for the rest of my life.”

Another added the ironic comment: “You forgot to add the cost of the ambulance.”

A user stressed: “You gave yourself anxiety by saying aloud. It was on your face.”

And as we summarize it: “Sainte Vache”.

According to the nutrition website, nutritionix, a drink offered by Baskin-Robbins in 2024, a large explosion of caramel cappucino, contained 1,040 calories per portion, including 32 grams of fat, 176 grams of total carbohydrates and 430 mg of sodium, a decrease in the previous product, but still something would not be healthy to eat every day.

Tayler said Nowsweek She hopes people will realize how badly some foods can be for your health, but has admitted that she believed that “most people totally ignore what they consume”.

“I think most people probably ignore nutritional facts and do not know how to read them. It is not something that is taught in school,” she said, adding: “And to be fair, I was exactly exactly until I can’t be!”

As a type 1 diabetic, Tayler is always capable of what she wants “as long as I take the right amount of insulin for that”, but she said that something like the baskin-robbins chocolate oreo shake would be “very dangerous” for her.

“This insulin at some point is probably not a great idea,” she said.

“Insulin can be unpredictable because everything does not work at the same time. It works over about four hours, and you have to take into account the duration of the duration of the shit – or the food – to digest.

“Content elements rich in fats are even more delicate because they take a long time and generally have a very delayed reaction on blood sugar, even a few hours later.”

As she said: “So yes, I could drink this Shake very well – but personally I would never do it. It would not be worth for me!”
