Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with UNICEF FreeD, organized a two -day workshop focused on the role of media in polio eradication efforts.
Peshawar, (Urdupoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th July, 2025) Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Khyber Paktankahwa, focus on focusing media’s role in polio elimination efforts in collaboration with UNICEF Freedy Workshop.
The purpose of the workshop is aimed at increasing the understanding of journalists of the polio process, equipping them with accurate reporting techniques, misinformation of counting and supporting vaccination campaigns.
The sessions jointly chaired Additional Secretary Health and EOC Coordinator Shafiullah Khan and Peshawar Press Club M. Was the president of Riyaz. Around 25 health journalists of print and electronic media, Memors of Peshawar Press Club Cabinet, former press Azhad Aziz Malik, reserved, health advertisement from office, representative from office, and KP Information Department participated in the event.
Officials of the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and other EOC staff were also present.
Speaking in the incident, Additional Secretary Shafiullah Khan emphasized that despite the government’s administrative machinery, law enforcement and wide efforts through health workers, polio abolition cannot be obtained with media active support and widespread sociality.
He underlines media’s ability to influence publications and raise awareness about the onset of polio and regular vaccinations, urging journalists to support the national cause of polio elimination of polio.
Dr. Sardar Alam, the Provincial Polio Officer, in Tera, made a technical presentation, in which the origin and type of polio virus, the role of vaccination, and strategies were given a technical presentation to explain strategies for communicable and non-communicable issues.
He highlighted the role of media in encouraging community-level trust building and vaccine acceptance.

He encouraged journalists to help the vaccine-Hesitant parents to swell through informed and sympathetic story.
Senior journalist Saeed Minhas organized a session on preparing an impressive media content that can help to move a public approach positively towards vaccination and public health.
In his closing comments, Peshawar Press Club President M. Riyaz thanked EOC and UNICEF for organizing the program and confirmed the Press Club’s comment to support polio elimination effects.
He does not present the straw media, including senior journalists and press club leadership, as a sign of solidarity with the reason.
The workshop concluded with a question -answer session, where technical experts add diverse questions to journalists.
The participants also offered Sixrech and crossed the obstacles for vaccination. Certificates and shields were distributed between the end of the incident.
