The three detectives of the Sheriff of the County of Los Angeles killed in an explosion Friday was described as the “best of the best”, which served their community with an unshakable honor, courage and commitment.

On Thursday, the three detectives responded to help the Santa Monica police service to remove the explosives in an apartment complex in Bloc 800 on Bay Street, according to spokesperson Nicole Nishida.

A grenade was recovered Thursday at the Santa Monica apartments complex, a city police officer told Times.
Michael Kellman, who lives in the building, told Times that a tenant colleague called the police on Thursday after discovering a bag of grenades hidden in his storage unit.

Lemus came from a family of law enforcement professionals and joined the Sheriff department in 2003. He left his wife behind him. Nancy Lemus and three girls.

He was promoted to the detective rank at the drug of drugs in 2016 before joining the special application office as a criminal incumbent and explosive investigator in 2022.
