Stephen Bunting says he is no longer a “village stupid” in the Black Pool on holiday and is confident he can win a world match play 2025 at the Winter Gardens.
Bunting booked his place in the match play quarter-finals with a 12-10 tie break win against Gary Anderson, which was highlighted by nine detainees near Bunting, which he lost at D12.
It was a scripped case in which neither players targeted their usual heights, but Bunting had won the line and is now in the second world match play in the last eight.
Now they will compete with Jonny Clayton, who have contested the past with Mike De Decker in the 11-7 victory.
World No. 4 Bunting is late, especially on the Pro Tour, and now away from only three victories, which will be an important win in his career.
The world match play is now a significant win that is now in his game, and he is proud of the fact that he no longer sees herself as a “fool of the village” who cannot compete on the big stage.
“I really believe Believe that I can now win any tournament, which is a great trust,” said Bunting.
“I think what I did in this season, ask the truth. I really played well, won some titles. I know how well I can play when you play on the biggest stages of them, obviously the match play is there, maybe the world championship is a place for me.
“I think it has been well documentary, I have not been in the quarter -finals but I am back in the quarter -finals and I am playing better than ever so I am really happy to stay in the quarters and I promise you that they will not play this bad in the next match.
“Obviously I am coming with confidence, behind me and the title of Nine Dart on the Pro Tour.
“I’m currently at number one on the Pro Tour so I’m really happy with the way I am playing.
“I am thinking about winning it, not final. I know how good I can be and I know that the tank has three good games.
“I’ve got my family here, I’m not coming here on holiday, I’m coming here to win this title.”
“I have just spent a great season, I have already won a lot of titles so I’m fooling myself if I don’t think I can come here to win it.
“I am no longer a fool of the village who comes here and laughs. I know I have got the form to do this, can I do it? Who knows but I believe it.”
