WWE would have sought to add to its referee range and manifested itself by a surprising name for the role: the former wrestler Aew Leyla Hirsch. According to a new report, the company has contacted the free agent about a potential test.
Hirsch has been active on the independent circuit since his departure from the entire elite struggle in February of this year. This new opportunity would present an unexpected path to a major promotion.
A surprising opportunity
A new Sean Ross SAPP report from Fighter declares that WWE has contacted Leyla Hirsch about a potential test with the company, in particular for a referee position. Communication would have taken place in mid-June, although it does not yet know if Hirsch has accepted the offer or if a test has already occurred.
“Sources within WWE indicate that they have contacted Leyla Hirch about a potential test with the company as an arbitrator,” said the report.
“Legit” Leyla Hirsch: a real competitor
The news is surprising given the history of Hirsch as a legitimate competitor and accomplished in the ring. Born in Moscow, she has training in amateur struggle. This repository, combined with his powerful attack based on suplex, earned him the nickname “Leyla Hirsch” “legitimate”.
She was a promising and rising star in the AEW female division before undergoing a great tear of the LCA in 2022. Although she finally returned to the ring, she was never able to regain her previous momentum, which led to her departure from the company earlier this year.
The legitimate background of Hirsch and the hard style in the ring make her an unusual candidate for an arbitrator’s role.

A “foot in the door” at WWE
The fighting report notes that taking an arbitrator position could simply be a “foot in the door” so that Hirsch enters the WWE system. It is a path that other artists have taken in the past.
Historically, the “dangerous” Danny Davis was a referee before becoming a notorious heel wrestler in the 1980s. More recently, WWE referee, Jessika Carr, the first full -time referee on the main list, began to compete as talent in the WWE Evolve brand.
For independent talent, any role in the WWE system gives access to the performance center and its world class coaches. This can often lead to other opportunities all over the line.
Although fans can be surprised to see the “legitimate” in Stripes, it could be a advisory career decision for the talented free agent.
