On information and broadcasting, the Senate Standing Committee has been informed by the Interior Ministry that 689 cases have been registered against nine journalists and citizens under the Pika Act.
In a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on information and broadcasting under the chairmanship of Senator Syed Ali Zafar, officials of the Interior Ministry kept the details of the cases registered in the Pika Act.
Officials of the Federal Internal Ministry told the Ministry of Information Committee that Adil Raja and Imran Riyaz have been registered against the state in Rawalpindi.
While a case has been registered against Shahzad Rafiq in Gujranwala at the request of a citizen, the citizen had requested for the honor of social media.
In addition, cases have been registered against Ahmed Noorani, Sabir Shakir, Maid Pirzada and Mohammad Wahid from Islamabad to run anti -set rhetoric. In Karachi too, action was taken against Farhan Malik, who is still out on bail.
The committee has also sought details of more cases from the IGS of all four provinces.

Censor board agenda approval
Federal Information Minister Ataula Tarard participated in the Standing Committee of the Senate in the Information and Broadcasting Meeting.
The meeting considered the ‘Motion Picture (Amendment) Bill 2024’, after which the committee approved the agenda of the censor board.
The minister said, “All the necessary factors related to certification of any film are included. If a new sensor board is installed every time and a long debate, our film industry matters will be delayed.”
The concerned minister will have the right to approve the Film Certification Board in the bill so that the decision is not delayed. After the 18th amendment, there were some issues about the imports and certification of films. The whole country should be on a page for authentication of the film. The role of the federal government is limited to the film only, while the provinces conduct certifications under their separate radicalization. In this regard, coordination with provinces is necessary. ,
Information and Broadcasting Minister Atoula Tarard said that ‘Pakistani films have done record business in many countries including Canada. The Ministry encourages such films and there should be no obstruction in their way, there is increasing intolerance in the society, in which we have to focus on promoting quality entertainment to promote a positive attitude in the society.
