5 tips for career branding that will take you far

When I worked in recruitment, I developed a lot of expertise. I was known for something in the market of New York City, but not anywhere else. All inflated job titles such as VP, talent acquisition for North America with 2 weeks of experience. He was not me.

I did not use a title, even though I had more than 20 years of experience. I realized that neither job huntors nor corporate recruitors are being indicated by the title of his experience recruitment due to the title inflation.

I started thinking how to separate myself, and branded yourself in a way that indicates my expertise. This phrase came to my mind, “The Big Game Hunter.” It was familiar, but was different from the word “head asshunter”, which knows the most, but one I was able to trademarks for all categories of employment. Strong, yet different. It worked for me in search and no longer advised BS career as a coach in my work.

Career branding as a strategy can help you stand out from others and keep yourself in position for professional success. If you are feeling infallible about your job discovery or career, or just want to be ahead of the competition, it may be a time to develop a career branding strategy that will help you not only but for the years to come.

It is being said, many people talk about branding their career. They do such tasks as they will need an advertising team from Mad Main or Marketing Degree to develop one. But this is not true at all and is an excuse for self-disturbance by inactivity.

The branding of his career as a person should not be complicated; Even small steps can affect your future job prospects. Let’s look at 4 simple tips for career branding that will help you for years.

Evaluate where you want to go

Where do you want to go with your career? Are you happy with your job and the work you are doing? Do you want to pursue the corporate ladder? Are you looking for something completely different? Do you know how people like you develop expertise, where you want to get?

Assess your strength and weaknesses and think of what you really want to do. Are there any specific companies or industries you will like To work in? If you are not finding anything that fit your career goals, is it time to consider starting your business?

Meet those who are doing that kind of work to see if this really you want to do.

Once you identify the types of career and industries, you want to find out the businesses you are interested in, it is time to talk with the real people that are doing that work. Find out where the networking events are happening and participate as much as possible. You can also connect with people on LinkedIn, you are eager about businesses you are curious or what you are working. You may know that you are completely uninterrupted what you thought you wanted to do and find something new, better for your skills and passion. You also learn steps that they were taken to achieve where they will save time with your efforts.

Define your brand and your target audience

Now that you have discovered options and collected information, you have to define your brand. What do you want people to listen to your name or start you again? What are your main values? Who do you want to go for? What are you most proud of? What type of industry and positions do you want to target? Be as specific as possible.

For example, if you want to work in the healthcare industry, there are many sub -specifications from nursing to pathology. Yes, you can be a generalist, however, firms give importance to experts more than general experts, especially in your career early.

Once you identify your target audience, you have to know how you are going to reach them. This can be done through self-branding, asking for advice from knowledgeable friends or former colleagues, or hits a branding company to help you develop your career brand. Whatever path you choose, make sure your brand is authentic to you and represents your best. It is also important to ensure that your social media is align and greetings with your brand and you want to tell that message to people.

Repeat your thinking

If you have tried the above all and are still feeling without stopping, it may be time to re -order your thinking. This does not mean that you need to change the career completely, but rather embrace the aspects of your job you enjoy and find ways to complete it more.

For example, if you are working as an accountant, but prefer to work in marketing, you can adjust to your daily duties so that they can be more closely aligned with your career goals. These steps can help you develop a career brand that is perfect for your values, passion and skill. This will help you stand out of the crowd and attract the attention of potential employers and affected. Even if you are not currently looking for a new job, applying these tips will strengthen your professional brand, making you more marketing in your current position.

Show yourself

Once you start promoting your brand, the time has come to start networking with potential employers and recruitments. Network, network, network! They become active on linkedin. Find out groups that belong to your industry. Participate in the discussion in groups and in feed. Share your expertise and knowledge. No debate! Discussion is fine! You never know who is reading your post, and you can increase someone’s interest and keep an opportunity in your lap.

Choose 1-2 achievements from your past and create a visual representation of them, such as posters or infographic (canva is great for it). You can then use it as a social media cover or profile picture, or provide it to those you find in networking events and job fairs.

Become a guest at podcast. Find the groups to talk and present your expertise. Write a book and, if it looks difficult, start writing articles. There are many sites including linkedin and medium.com, you can publish them, this will give you more professional exposure.

Many of you have chosen to be professionally invisible and missed opportunities to escape from the front because you are not seen as experts, if not experts. Branding, knowledge and expertise work to help you in your entire career.
