According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, millions of pools above the ground sold among large retailers in the country are millions of pools above retailers nationally.
Bestway, Intex and Polygroup, as well as the CPSCannounced the recall of around 5 million swimming pools on July 21, citing a risk of drowning.
The CPSC said that he thought there had been nine deaths of children aged 22 months and 3 years after the children had access to the swimming pools thanks to the wait created by the compression straps of the swimming pools. The death of children occurred between 2007 and 2022 in California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Texas and Wisconsin.
The CPSC said that he also knew three additional incidents which took place in 2011 and 2012 where the children who had access to the swimming pools had previously declared to use the compression straps to enter the swimming pools.
Bestway, Intex and Polygroup remember around 5 million above ground pools because the pool compression straps can create a foot so that children can access swimming pools, leading to the risk of drowning.

The recall has an impact on certain swimming pools above the ground which have been sold since 2002. The pools recalled are 48 inch or more and have compression straps during the outside and above the vertical support legs of the swimming pool.
The compression strap can create a foot, giving a child another way of getting into the pool, in addition to using the pool scale, and can thus present a risk of drowning even when the scale is removed, according to the business.
In a statement to ABC News, Bestway, Intex and Polygroup said they “had a common commitment to customer safety”.
“While most swimming pools above the ground of 48 inch or more height currently sold today have already responded to this concern, to ensure that these modifications can be applied to all swimming pools above the ground sold since 2002 which are 48 inch or higher, we are jointly announce a voluntary recall in conjunction with the American part of consumer consumption products (CPS) companies have partially declared. “The safe use of our products is important for us, and we work together to bring the word to this recall and create a transparent process so that our customers can participate.”
Customers who have recalled pools are invited to make sure that children cannot access the unattended pool or to empty the pool as long as a repair can be installed.
Customers can contact Bestway, Intex and Polygroup to obtain a free repair kit for a recalled pool. The repair kit includes a rope which attaches to each of the vertical support poles on the ground and wraps around the swimming pool, which “will maintain the structural integrity of the swimming pool”. After securing the rope, customers are then invited to cut and remove the pool compression strap.
The pools recalled, made in China, have been sold in stores in the United States, including Big Lots, BJ’s, Costco, Kmart, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club, Sears, Target, Home Depot, Toys “R” US and Walmart. They were also sold online on Amazon.com, Bestway USA, Intex, Funsicle and Summer Wave Website and Wayfair.com.
The recalled pools cost about $ 400 to more than $ 1,000, depending on the size and model of the pool and any additional accessory.
A list of recalled pools is available on the CPSC website and on Bestway website And Intex website.
