15 years of Erblo Crash: ‘There was no defect in the ship’

Exactly 15 years ago, the morning of 28 July, 2010, Air Blue Flight 202 left for Islamabad from Karachi. It should have flowed in a normal country. As usual, this flight was not trivial. In just a few moments from its destination, the Airbus A321 aircraft collided with the hills of the route and the life lamps of 152 people were swollen.

It is worth noting that the ship had no technical error. All its equipment was doing the right thing, so how did it come in the valley 15 km away instead of landing on the runway?

To get the answer to this question, we have to look at the flight from the beginning.

The aircraft flew from Karachi Airport at 7 am and 51 minutes. It had 146 passengers and six crew members.

Veteran captain Pervez Iqbal Chaudhary was running the ship while he was with assistant airline Ahmed. A detailed report of the accident stated that the Karachi captain shook his junior from Karachi to Islamabad, ridiculed him and gave him a lecture in pride for an hour.

According to the report, it created a ‘stress and inappropriate environment’ in the cockpit. The first officer could not violate the rules of the captain and identify the captain’s rules and mistakes on time due to scolding.

It is not easy to land at Islamabad Airport. There are mountains near the airport, so there is a certain way to land here. First the pilot has to come to runway 30 with the help of equipment, after which he has to look at his eyes and land on the runway 12.

Meanwhile, it has to stay at least 2,510 feet high and eight kilometers in a safe circle to stay away from the mountains.

But Captain Chaudhary adopted a dangerous path. He insisted on looking at runway 12 without equipment, despite bad weather, clouds and low -light eyes.

The captain repeatedly asked the control tower to turn right to right, which was rejected. He placed the ship on an unsafe path which was coming near the mountain. This route was going inside the Margala mountain outside the safe air zone.

He brought the aircraft to an unprotected height under a certain height, when the controller warned, the captain said, “Keep saying what he says.”

Last 70 seconds

The aircraft was equipped with a modern security system, which saves the ground. This system was doing the right thing.

70 seconds before the accident, the first warning is the forward land.

In the next one minute, the system warned 21 times, including an emergency call to lift the aircraft 15 times.

Now the first officer also realized the danger. He repeatedly warned the captain:

‘Sir, there is a mountain in front, turn left.’

“Sir, the earth is coming.”

‘Sir, get up, turn left.’

And finally: ‘Sir we are going down …’

But by that time the water had passed through the head and the captain’s hands and legs were flourished, when they tried to turn the left, they made a mistake. They rolled the Nab, but did not draw it. It was revealed that instead of turning to the left, the plane turned to the right, Margalla mountain.

Captain shouted with amazement, ‘Why not left friend?’

Usually the first officer controls such occasions, but he was already suppressed by the captain that he failed to work on time and became only one spectator in the whole incident.

Finally, at 9:30 pm, Air Blue Flight hit 202 Margala. None of the employee and the passenger left.

In the valley, pieces of ships were burning and bushes were also set on fire at some places. For the next several days, the ship’s debris, passenger goods, suitcase clothes and other items were scattered in the valley.

The airline has built a memorial on Daman Koh Road in Islamabad, a short distance from the accident, including the names of 110 men, 29 women and seven children.

It is clear from the investigative report that the accident was not caused by a technical error, but was a result of human negligence, disagreements from their mistakes, lack of employees, and lack of communication, causing disaster in the valley in Air Blue Flight 202 and given wounds to 152 families which would never heal.
