On Friday, at least 100 million Americans are on a alert for dangerous heat and humidity – from Texas to Maine – with parts of the East Coast of having three figures.
Friday, heat reviews are in place from Texas to Virginia-Western, with temperatures reaching between 105 and 110 degrees.
In Boston, the heat index – how hot it feels with humidity – could reach 103 degrees; New York could feel like 104 degrees and Washington, DC, could feel like 109 degrees.

Heat will reach levels that may have an impact on “anyone without sufficient cooling” or appropriate hydration, according to the National Meteorological Service. The NWS added that there will be “little or no night relief”.
An incoming cold front will provide a slight relief late Friday afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms leading to cooler temperatures in New England.
Suffering temperatures will continue on weekends and next week from Midwest to the southeast, with heat indices that should react 113 in some parts of North Carolina and 110 from Saint-Louis to Tampa.
A risk of extreme heat is in place from Sunday to Thursday for large parts of the Southeast.
While St. Louis takes care of the heat wave, some parts of Kansas City, Missouri, are under the surveillance of the flash floods on Friday. Some pieces were under a flash flood warning early Friday morning with 1 to 3 inches of rain having already fallen at 4:30 am
According to the Kansas City fire service, several vehicles were reported in the high waters and at least 10 water resumes occurred on Friday morning.
More rain, from the southwest of Kansas in the center of Illinois, should continue until Friday morning, but will break in the afternoon. However, a redevelopment of this storm is expected later in the day of Friday, bringing high additional rains overnight and possible floods for some of the areas already struck earlier in the day.
During these extremely hot temperatures, the National Meteorological Service Recalls people in affected areas “limit external activity, remain hydrated and guarantee access to air conditioning and other cooling areas”.
